Learn the basic laws and movements that you need for running a club session and prepare for the club directors examination

  • Help your club by assisting in Directing
  • Help your bridge by knowing more about the Laws
  • Help yourself with personal development
  • Get to know other people in your area who will be directing


  • Attendee cost is free - subsidised by CD Region.
  • Tea/coffee will be available at the venue.
  • Your club may assist you by subsidising travel/accommodation.
  • Attendees will be expected to have their own law book.


OUTLINE: The course will involve practical sessions as well as lecture-type and group discussion sessions.

  • Attendees will receive pre-course emails with starter homework.
  • Basic Directing practise - getting started
  • The Laws - common rulings and how to apply them
  • Practical exercises
  • Choosing Movements
  • Adjusting scores
  • Addressing timing and attitude issues


  • The Club Director exam is scheduled for May 15/16.
  • Attendees are encouraged to sit this exam and this course
  • should cover the relevant material for the exam.
  • There will be tests, but they are to assist you as a Director in your knowledge of the Laws rather than an assessment mechanism.
